Dear Classen Family,

 

With Dr. Porter’s arrival in Oklahoma City and his commitment to all students in the Oklahoma City Public Schools, I have been offered and accepted a new challenge which will allow me the opportunity to serve the school district in a broader manner. I will be involved in curriculum development that will enhance learner outcomes in our high schools and help to build leadership capacity within the ranks of our new and assistant principals. This exciting opportunity comes at this time with the urgency to make significant gains in student performance.

My departure comes with the assurance that a highly qualified replacement will be sought through a search process to provide the appropriate leadership fit for the Classen Learning Community. Ms. Valerie Harris, Assistant Principal for the International Baccalaureate Program, will serve as Acting Principal until a permanent replacement is found. I will continue to assist the Classen team during the transition period.

I would like to thank all of the Classen Family, students, parents and community members for their unfailing support during my nine year tenure as principal of Classen School of Advanced Studies. I appreciate the opportunity of serving the students and watching them grow in their academic and personal lives. Please know I will forever treasure this special part of my career and will always hold the Classen Family in highest regards. I will continue to watch Classen’s progress with pride and wish each of you the best in the near future and beyond.

SENIOR PICTURES - If Seniors would like to have senior pictures taken for personal use/family, they must do so by retake day, October 8th. Call Prestige at 340-8363 for an appointment. There is a sitting fee to have pictures taken, but there is no obligation to buy. A picture of all Classen seniors who have had their pictures taken at Prestige will be forwarded to the Classen Yearbook automatically. The picture must be in cap and gown. Any seniors who have not had their picture taken by October 8th will have their picture taken at school for the yearbook; there will be only one pose.

Picture day for underclassmen is next Friday, August 31. Picture envelopes will be distributed in 3A time block on Monday or Wednesday of the week in question. Save your pennies!
