CLASSEN NEWS 8/21/08 Next Week is a "B" week-Friday, August 29th is a "B" Day
From the Guidance and Counseling Office: Krista Thomas (962-0204 krsloan@okcps.org ) is the “go-to” girl in the counselor’s office. Please call her first with question. Please feel free to call! She will get you to the right person if she cannot answer your questions. Parents and Students: schedule conflicts will be resolved by Tuesday, August 26th, 2008. Please be patient. Remember that the master schedule was built based on requests from students/parents last spring. There will be very few changes made due to change of mind over the summer. Thanks for your cooperation.
Any parent needing a bus transportation schedule may pick on up in the guidance/counseling office.
Agendas will be given out by September 5th. An ordering glitch is responsible for their untimely delay.
Drop off/Pick up procedures:
You should drive from the North to the South on Ellison IN
LINE. Otherwise you will be going "against" the flow. It is likely
that an illegal double line will form. Watch for students
crossing the street in unexpected places. Another option is to park
on a side street and either walk to your child or let them know
where you will be waiting. Above all, STAY CALM!! Try to
be patient, polite and a good role model for our kids.
Mark Your Calendar:
Classen SAS Open House: Tuesday

Times TBA, but usually 6:00ish to 8:30 ish. Volunteers will be
needed -information to come.

Middle School After Care Options offered by Classen SAS parents (There is no after school program offered by Classen SAS) Option I ("Weed and Seed"): From Lynda Bahr (606-3838): I work for the Metropolitan Library System and I coordinate after school programs throughout the community. I also have a 7th grader at Classen and would like to see a program for Classen students. If we had several requests from interested parents, that might help impact the outcome. Calls from interested parents expressing the needs of your family and what programs you would like to see, might help impact the outcome. Call Ed Martin or Anita Reed at 297-3635 Option II (First Presbyterian Church Sparks Program) (From Susie Wallace) First Presbyterian Church at NW 24th and Western runs an after school program called Spark. I believe they have a program for middle school kids and I think they have a van that picks up at Classen. We’ve used Spark for elementary age and it’s and excellent program. The middle schoolers are kept completely separate from the elementary kids. The number at Spark is 525-0018. The cost for elementary is $55 week, but the middle school program may be a little cheaper
