CSAS Baseball News:
Classen/Northeast combined baseball teams for middle school and high
school have been practicing hard throughout the months of January and
February. The high school team has already had one scrimmage. Games
start on March 3rd. More information about dates, times and
places will be forthcoming Come and support your team!
INFORMATION IS ON THE WAY!
In an effort to distribute information to parents about Enterprise
Schools, a mailout was planned. Well, it’s time to start
checking your mailboxes
because an informational letter was mailed today! We were also
fortunate to be able to
reschedule
our Enterprise School experts at an
informational meeting
to be held on Monday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m. in the Kerr-McGee
auditorium in Meinders School of Business, Oklahoma City
University. Many
thanks to Dean Vince Orza
for his generous contribution of this facility that allows us to
avoid impeding the students at Classen who are busy getting our
auditorium ready for a performance. The location of the meeting is
NW 26th & McKinley - from Classen & 26th, go west 4 blocks…
hope to see you all there!

SOMETHING WE ALL CAN AGREE ON:
THE RETURN OF THE OU BIG EVENT TO
ClassenSAS IS GREAT NEWS.
ClassenSAS has been accepted as a
job site for the April 5th, 2008 “Big Event at OU”
- Be a part of the return of the CSAS “Big Help” - NOW
Between 50 and100 OU student
volunteers will arrive on Saturday April 5th to paint rooms and
do some heavy lifting. We are in the process of confirming our the job
specs with OU and need your help to get the job done right.
The goal is 10 rooms plus the the
cafeteria. The number of rooms that can be painted depends on the number of
OU & CSAS volunteers who can be accommodated on painting day. That number
will depend on the degree to which CSAS parents can supplement the quantity
of paint, brushes, rollers, etc that OU can donate. OU should provide
most, but not all of the paint, tools and supplies needed for their own
volunteers.
Like last year, there is no money in
the PTSA budget for this project.
1. To establish the $ budget,
Pledges are needed now.
Whatever amount you are comfortable with is fine: $5, $15, $500 or $5000.
(Newsflash: We have a pledge from the Netherlands! Exchange student Jonah
Gerth's mother called while I was typing this.)
2. To have an idea how many rooms
that can be scraped, patched and taped, we are asking folks to tell us if
you can set aside time the week before the Big Event to scrape, patch and
tape. Please say
Yes!
3. Volunteers also needed to help
organize… minimal meetings!
We would need donations in hand by the
end of March through the week of and after the Big Event (I will credit card
most purchases - please don't leave me swinging in the wind, friends!) A
portion of the pledges will be reserved for "unexpected" expenses. The
remainder will be used to estimate the number of extra OU volunteers that
we will be able to put to work painting classrooms (and, we hope, the
cafeteria) on April 5th.
Please reply to Barbara Rupert
bdew@repairman.com
with a cc to Jacci Rodgers, PTSA treasurer (jrodgers@okcu.edu), and let us
know your name, the first and last name of your student, your telephone
number and the amount of your pledge. (Checks should be made out to CSAS
PTSA with OUBigEvent in memo.)

principal) co-chairs.
Our
students will be competing in vocal contests on
Friday, March 7
(7th/8th grades)
Wednesday, March 26 (9th grade)
I’d love
to have a few parents come along on the bus with us and help monitor
students when they aren’t performing.
The
March 7 Contest is at Oklahoma
City Community College
The
March 26 Contest is at Norman
North High School
Times are tentative.
. . Right now we’re planning on leaving school around 8 and returning
around 1:30 or 2 for both groups. When Mrs. V knows the exact times,
she’ll let us know.
Basically, parents volunteering will keep the groups together while they
wait to perform and/or leave, and there can be someone for the students
to stay with while Mrs. V is with other choirs.
If
parents are unable to help physically on either day, donations of
bottled water, granola bars… something to keep the kids going throughout
the long day of singing and waiting will be appreciated.
