WAY TO GO CLASSEN!!
Giving up an evening to be advocates for our
school paid off at the OKCPS Board meeting last night. The Board
approved two of our three requests regarding the MAPS for Kids project
at Classen. They postponed the negotiation of the architect’s contract
until staff has an opportunity to redo the Projects Requirements Manual
in a way that is more suited our specialized programs. And they
directed their staff to rework the PRM. The only item not yet addressed
is the capacity to which the building is being designed – and we can
follow up on that at a later time. This success could not have been
possible without each one of you in the audience – so hats off to us for
pulling together for something that will make a real difference to this
school. You guys rocked it!!

of Education voted last night to make up the school days missed due to

TEACHER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON
Classen friends -
As you all probably know, our rescheduled Winter Teacher Appreciation lunch
is this Thursday. If you have signed up to send items or work that day -
thank you very much. If you haven't and would like to participate, please
consider a donation of a
gift card. We have a
gift bag for each teacher as well as a few gift
cards which we will put in random bags for a special surprise for the
person opening it. The more we have to scatter through the bags, the
better. It is so nice to see how much the teachers appreciate being
honored. Any size cards are welcome - a few examples: one mom is sending $5
Sonic cards which I know people will be happy to receive, another is sending
$25 to the
Cheesecake Factory Other popular choices - local restaurants,
Target,
Lowe's, Starbucks, movie passes.
Lots of possibilities. .. If this appeals to you, please send me an email
(off group) and send the card to school with your child (PTSA Box in main
office) by Thursday morning. If not, that's OK too - I know this is a very
active and supportive group in our school and it is not possible to do
everything. Thanks for you consideration.
