Classen Parents, Students and Community,
Tomorrow, Thursday, November 8th, 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium  is the first meeting for Classen SAS regarding MAPS.  It you are interested in the future of Classen and want to be in on the ground floor planning for MAPS for Classen, PLEASE attend this meeting.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that we have a good representation at this meeting to show the MAPS committee that we are committed to maximizing the benefits of MAPS for Classen and our students.   Your input is very much needed to insure that Classen's needs are met as completely as possible.

CLEAN UP DAY AT CLASSEN on Saturday, November 10th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.?  Jobs will range from carting indoor and outdoor trash to the dumpster, to cleaning up the fence around the soccer field, to dirt levelling in the front, to tulip bulb planting in various places around the school.  Something for everyone!

Congratulations
to the following students in their efforts to make the CODA  and All-OMEA Honor bands:

Gabrielle Brown (Flute) and Elliot Choi both made the CODA Symphonic Band while also moving to the final round of ALL-State Competition at Westmore HS on December 1st.

Garrett Enis (Alto Saxophone) and Evan Crabtree (Trumpet) made the 9th Grade CODA band.  Both young men made first chair in their sections.

Congratulations to these students for this outstanding accomplishment.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM - This past week end I noticed that I am somewhat caught up now that Outdoor Classroom at YMCA Camp Classen is “in the books”.  One last thing that I would like to do is extend a public thanks to the large number of helpful adults who made this year an excellent experience for 146 sixth graders who attended this past October 9th to October 12th.  This class made sure no sixth grader stayed home for lack of funds.  Thank you so much.

The Ambassadors’ Concert Choir will present "A Centennial Salute to Broadway" featuring Linda Twine on Saturday, November 10th at the Rose State Performing Arts Theatre.  The tickets are only $10 and may be purchased at the Civic Center box office.  Ms. Twine is well known back East and these ticket prices are a bargain.
She is in Oklahoma this week to be inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.

Ms. Twine has been the conductor for some of the most important Broadway shows of our time, including the Color Purple, Big River and Big Jelly's Last Jam.  More notably, this African American was born and reared in Muskogee, Oklahoma!  As her mother was an educator, Ms. Twine is accessible to young people.

This is a great (and affordable) opportunity for young aspiring musical artists to have access to kind of talent.
