April 10:  Best of the Best Recital from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

All performances are in Classen SAS auditorium

 

 

 

 

PIANO I and II                                                                     

 

This class is designed for the student who has an interest in keyboard techniques.  The curriculum is tailored for the student who desires to have the ability to read music, improvise and further develop his or her technical skills.  The study of music theory is included in this class.

 

GRADE SCALE

100 - 90 = A

  80 - 89 = B

  70 - 79 = C

  60 - 69 = D

    0 - 59 = F

 

Students will be graded on daily practicing, weekly projects, ensemble projects and original projects.

 

Unexcused absences cannot be made up.  Students with three unexcused tardies will be required to attend a conference with the teacher, a Vice Principal and the student’s parents.  Students need to be in class on time so they do not miss vital information.

Assignments are due at the beginning of class.  Failure to turn an assignment in on time  will result in an automatic deduction of 10 points.  Of course, there are extenuating circumstances that arise from time to time and these will be taken into consideration on an individual basis.

 

NO EATING OR DRINKING IN THE PIANO LAB!

 

Assertive Discipline

 

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Students will need to provide the teacher with four stamped envelopes addressed to his/her parents during the first week of school.  They will also need to bring staff paper, a 3-ring black binder, notebook paper, two (2) pencils and a set of headphones with a 1/8” to ¼” adaptor to class every day.  Students who can’t seem to be responsible for their materials will meet with their parents and teacher for a discussion of ways to discourage this behavior.  The first grade in this class will be for having all required materials in class.

 

STUDENT RECITALS

Students will perform on a recital to be announced at a later date.
