Welcome
The Oklahoma City Public Schools Federal Programs department strives to align Federal resources to improve teaching and learning performance outcomes.

Mission Statement
Operating within the framework of No Child Left Behind and the District's Aims and Goals, the mission of the Oklahoma City Public Schools Federal Programs department is specific and clear:

  • Deliver educational services that supplement core academic instruction;
  • Integrate high-impact strategies in schools to serve special needs, targeted student groups and/or core content areas;
  • Create effective partnerships, internally and externally, to leverage Federal program resources;
  • Acquire external resources and maintain funding for innovation;
  • Effectively manage program resources

What is No Child Left Behind?

No Child Left Behind

Stronger Accountability
Under the act's accountability provisions, states must describe how they will close the achievement gap and make sure all students, including those who are disadvantaged, achieve academic proficiency.
More Local Freedom
Under No Child Left Behind, states and school districts have unprecedented flexibility in how they use federal education funds, in exchange for greater accountability for results.
Proven Methods
No Child Left Behind puts special emphasis on determining what educational programs and practices have been proven effective through rigorous scientific research.  Federal funding is targeted  to support these programs and teaching methods that work to improve student learning and achievement.
Choices for Parents
The No Child Left Behind Act provides new education options for many families in chronically under-performing schools (e.g., supplemental education services or school choice transfers at designated locations).
