Guardianship Adults serving as guardians for students in the district are required to show proof of guardianship with a certified court document, adoption papers, or transfer of guardianship through DHS, Social Security or a notarized letter from the parent. In emergency situations other documents may be considered. Photo identification is required for both parties. Documentation such as a property deed, or notarized rental/lease agreement, and two different utility bills (ONG/OG&E) are required for proof of property ownership. The same information is required for a Residence Verification. Spirit Day Fridays at Ridgeview are considered to be "Spirit Days". Students and staff members are encouraged to show his/her enthusiasium by wearing a Ridgeview t-shirt or sweatshirt. T-shirts can be purchased through the office. In addition, we will have occasional "special dress-up day" where students may dress up with the theme of that day; an example would be crazy hat day. More details will be sent home each month. Dress Code – Personal Appearance Ridgeview is a uniform school. Students have the right to choose their own grooming and clothing styles provided they are in keeping with community standards and in conformance with established district and home school guidelines. In choosing school attire, parents and students should be sure that standards of health, safety, and morality are not violate or the manner of dress interferes with work or creates disorder in the learning environment. Several times throughout the year students will be given the opportunity to participate in out-of-uniform picture day and or fundraising days. The uniform dress code includes: shirts, slacks, shorts and belts. Any combination of the colors navy blue, khaki, red and white may be worn. Logos are not permitted. Shirts and blouses will be tucked in. Anything with belt loops requires a brown belt. Girls may wear the appropriate combination of the following: Pleated jumpers (navy or khaki) Pleated slacks (navy or khaki) Pleated shorts (navy or khaki) Pleated skirts/skorts (navy or khaki) Blouses with Peter Pan collar (white, navy or red) Polo shirts with button-down collar (white, navy or red) Oxford shirts (white, navy or red) Turtleneck shirts (white, navy or red) Sweaters/sweatshirts (white, navy or red) Boys may wear the appropriate combination of the following: Pleated slacks (navy or khaki) Pleated shorts (navy or khaki) Polo shirts with button down collar Oxford shirts (white, navy or red) Turtleneck shirts (white, navy or red) Sweaters/sweatshirts (white, navy or red) Ridgeview t-shirts and sweatshirts will be permitted and considered part of the uniform dress code. Ridgeview will support casual Fridays by allowing students to wear appropriate jeans with Ridgeview uniform shirt or spirit shirt. Students wearing inappropriate clothing or violating the dress code policy will be sent to the office to either change in spare clothing that the clothes closet has on hand or parents will be contacted to bring a change of clothing. If you are unsure of the attendance area please call (405) 587-6800 or 297-6811 Attendance Policy The Oklahoma State Truancy Law says that parents have the responsibility of seeing that students attend school. Parents are required to call the school when their child is going to be absent and give reason for the absence. The office phone number is 587-6800. Tardiness Students that arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 are considered tardy. After 9:30, they are absent one-half day. If students leave before 2:00, they are absent one-half hay. A student that is tardy must check in at the office and get a tardy slip to present to their teacher when entering the classroom. District policy states that excessive tardiness may be turned over to the district attorney’s office for immediate attention in this matter. Withdrawal Student from School Whenever a student is moving from Ridgeview to attend another school during the school year, it is the parent’s responsibility to obtain a withdrawal form from the office. This FORM is required prior to the admittance to the new school. Please note: the teachers need one day notice to complete this form and prepare the records necessary for withdrawing the child. Another Oklahoma City School will not enroll your child unless you have a withdrawal form from the school you are leaving. Technology Ridgeview is fortunate to have a computer lab where all students may work on the computers at the same time. Current uses of the computer include Word Processing, AR and Internet access. Each student is required to have a signed permission slip allowing students to access the Internet at school. Ridgeview has a newly renovated computer lab located in the Media/Library Center. Proof of Residence For proof of residence, you may show a copy of a utility bill, apartment lease, rent contract, and/or real estate contract. The parent or guardian of the student attending Ridgeview must be named on bills, lease or contract in order to be considered as Ridgeview Elementary home school site. Registration Card It is essential that we have current and correct information on all students throughout the school year. If there are any changes in: Parent’s Name, Address, Home Phone, Pager, Employment Number, or Health Status of your child, it is your responsibility to notify the school office. Please don’t wait until after an emergency has occurred. We do not release student information to parents, guardians, relatives, etc. unless they are listed on the student’s registration card. Transfers Ridgeview Elementary is happy to accept transfers provided space is available. The transfer process is only good for one year. Each year the transfers are reviewed and acceptance is decided provided all transfer criteria has been met: Students should attend school regularly and be on time. Transfers are accepted per grade level and based on availability each year. Students are expected to behave and be responsible to complete daily work support school related activities and functions. Parents are expected to join and support the Ridgeview PTO. |
