Language Arts Standards:
The entire year focuses primarily
on English grammar skills. The major purposes of homework are to help students to become self-directed, independent learners, and improve their achievement. Parents should provide conditions conducive for studying and should monitor their children's home study time. We want to see 50 AR point by the end of the year! |

HOMEWORK SOCIAL STUDIES & MATH Homework assignments will be written in the students assignment books. (Mrs. Rosell's Class: Assignment books are to be signed daily by parent/guardian and a student with 2weeks worth of signatures will receive a special treat.) The first 9 weeks we study about Oklahoma! SAXON MATH: Lesson 38 page 169 in our Saxon Math Book suggests we make no more than 3 mistakes on our 4 minute 90 fact multiplication test. GOOD LUCK and KEEP STUDYING!

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that the staff at Ridgeview has adopted to encourage students to read. It is also used as a source to track reading development. Our school has a wide range of reading material to fit every student's interest and ability level. Prior to participating in the Accelerated Reader program, each student is asked to take a test using the STAR reading assessment. This computerized test provides teachers with individual reading levels. After reading their AR book, they take a comprehension test on the computer. This is to see how well they understood and retained the theme, characters and settings from their story.
