Catelynn Wood won 1st place in the Oklahoma Poster Contest for Litter Blitz

I was very shocked when I found out that I won the Litter Blitz poster contest.

But, it seemed really weird because it was unexpected .Usually I  expect things like that, but this time I kind of like, done it and got it over with . But the second I heard Mrs. Edwards said my name, I thought I was going to pass out. And at the middle of the situation, I found out I was going to be in a commercial, to me that was exiting.

So the day that the people came, I had to meet the cast of the seen. Boy, was that exiting.

I met Mother Earth, Darling Daisy, and Terry Trash A Saurus!  After I met the crew, we rehearsed through the script and made sure everything was in place.  After we did that, the third grade students and I went back to class and continued our day at school.

A couple of months or so later, I was happening to be passing the office, when Mrs. Combs stopped me. She said that I had to go to the Mayor’s office downtown to present my picture / poster and take a picture with the Mayor. And I had my picture printed in the water bill last month.

Thanks to All the Children who worked Hard collecting Donations for Jump Rope For Heart.  Our School raised $970.

Mayra Arzaga was the state winner for the Elks Association Drug Free Poster Contest.  Mayra was recognized in an assembly at Linwood in March.  At that time she was notified she had won the regional competition.  She then received a call telling her that she had won the overall state competition held by the Elks.  At an Elks Club Association luncheon to be held on April 21st,  Mayra will receive a Drug Awareness  Basketball, a back pack full of goodies, her poster enlarged and framed, and a $100.00 gift certificate.  Congratulations Mayra!
