Welcome To Edwards Elementary School!
To our Eagle stakeholders, parents, students, patron and parents: we welcome you to "the Eagles' nest"! This is where young eaglets are nurtured academically, socially, physically and spiritually in the safe confines of a caring and committed teaching staff. This is where young eaglets "earn their wings" prior to taking flight on their journey to soaring to new educational heights.

Lastly, eagles are famous for their keen eyesight. We, the instructional staff at Edwards Elementary School, are dedicated to and will "see to it" that each child at Edwards Elementary experiences academic success on a regular basis as they prepare to become lifelong learners and 21st century contributors to family, friend and the communities they will positively affect.

What's In a Name?

Walter J. and Frances W. Edwards were African American land developers. In 1936, they bought 32 acres in the northeastern section of Oklahoma City. There they built more than 800 homes. In 1938, they founded the elementary school and donated the first building. In 1948, they constructed Edwards Memorial Hospital, a 105 bed facility. It is said to have been the only hospital in the South owned and operated by African Americans.

Our School Credo:

At Walter J. and Frances W. Edwards Elementary School...
