NCLB Annual Report Cards Notification

In accordance with the requirements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, schools and districts are required to distribute annual report cards in order to inform parents and the public of student performance and program effectiveness.

The 2006-07 NCLB Annual Report Cards, to include a district-wide summary report and a report of performance information for each school are available for distribution. These reports reflect Academic Performance Index (API) scores and Adequately Yearly Progress (AYP) determinations, along with student achievement results for statewide performance benchmarks.

We encourage you to share this information not only with your staff, but also the patrons and parents from your respective community. The NCLB Annual Report Card information is available for review or to download on the district’s web-site at: http://www.okcps.org/fedprograms/rept_cards.htm

Beyond the reporting requirements of NCLB, it is important for all of our patrons to know that while there is much work to be done - progress is being made. As a district, we made Adequate Yearly Progress for the first-time under the NCLB accountability framework and 7 of the 14 schools designated for School Improvement actually made satisfactory progress (but must do so for two-consecutive years before being removed from the list).

Our goal must be to exceed the state’s standards, ensure every child receives an
“excellent education,” and is prepared for life’s opportunities beyond high school. Should you have any questions regarding the NCLB Annual Report Cards, please contact the Federal Programs staff at 587-0160.
