The Oklahoma City Public School District has named Michelle Lewis as principal of Parmelee Elementary School. Principal Lewis has worked in education for 16 years in Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma. She has worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and most recently as a Teacher and Leader Effectiveness (TLE) coordinator.
Lewis stated, "I want to help create a shared vision for students, staff, and families who are focused on student achievement. I will take the time to gather input and knowledge from as many stakeholders as possible. In addition, I will support and encourage my staff. Parmelee will collaborate to embrace a positive school culture that takes risks in an effort to do great things."
Lewis has established her goals for Parmelee, "I believe it is vital to engage and support OKCPS families and community. The key is consistent, two-way communication through multiple forms. Open communication will result in conversations about both the child's educational experience as well as the school culture. Communication is important in helping families and communities make personal connections. I feel these connections are essential to the success of any family engagement program. Specific ideas include volunteering, community partnerships, and including parents in the decision making process. Successful school, parent, and community partnerships will be well integrated with the overall mission and goals or Parmelee Elementary."
