*These three schools are in session for the same number
of instructional days as traditional schools, but have a three week
break after each nine week session and have a six-week summer vacation.
Studies have shown academic improvement is gained by this schedule due
to less downtime between instructional periods.
Sequoyah Elementary first piloted the program for the 2001-2002 school
year.
