Dropout Reporting Guidelines
A dropout is an individual who:
1. Was enrolled at the end of the last school year and has not enrolled by October 1 of this school year; or
2. Was enrolled after October 1 during the current school year but has since left school, and
3. Has not graduated from high school, and
4. Does not meet any of the following exclusionary conditions:
a:  Transfer to another public school district or private,
b:  temporary absence due to suspension or school-recognized illness,
c:  transfer to home schooling, or
d:  death
Additional Guidelines for reporting dropouts:
1. A school year is defined as the period of time beginning October 1 of the current school year and ending September 31 of the subsequent school year.
2. A dropout should not be reported if the student who dropped out reenters later in the same quarter.  The status at the end of the quarter under report determines whether a student should be reported as a dropout.
3. Any student who has been suspended or expelled is not considered a dropout at that time. If the student does not return at the en of the suspension or expulsion period, he or she should then be reported as a dropout under one of the reasons shown below.
